Carp 2000 was held on February 12 and 13, 2000 in Zwolle, Holland. It was crowded with carp fishermen.
The Fair in Zwolle was a large Fair where carp fishermen and distributors, and fishing shops could gather. The Fair has become one the leading (Dutch) Fairs and meetings for Carp fishing and the news on the market. You could hear and see the Dutch Fishing Federation who was very concerned about the behaviour of a growing part of the Carp Fisherman. Their behaviour includes: making noise, drinking too much, leaving out a mess off their pitch. Many people - especially the not fishermen- are starting procedures, so that nightfishing (in Holland) can be forbidden in that area. All other kinds of carpfishing - the usage of a bivvy - is under discussion again. This leaves us something to think about......

Lots of stands were on the Fair, most of them from large Fishing shops like Raven, CTE, Paddy, De Stek. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much news, it seemed more like a continuation of last year. Also, the distrubutors were on the Fair: like Ultimate, Shimano, Rozemeijer, Starbaits.

On the Starbaits stand I was interested by their hooks, but no hooks from Starbaits were found by me, and they were just what I was looking for.... Pity. If it was too busy at a stand, you'd better lokk ksomewhere else and then return later.

Also some travel agents, which are specialised in fishing outside Holland, were in Zwolle, soe were very interseting (Hungary, South Africa)

The trend for hooks seem to win for prefab hooks with D-rig system and prefab rigs.

I did not find spectacular rods except for one: a beautiful Spinhoven blank (the new New Zeeland blank) 1,75 lb and 12 foot. But for floaterfishing there was not much choice. My first grasscarp was caught with the new rod yesterday (February 20)....

Bivvy's.... You could hardly find onem, as they take too much space in the IJsselhallen. Instead of that , lots of smaller stands with jewelry, the French Fishing Federation (FFPC) could be found, including Carp Art!!

It was a nice Carp 2000 Fair, but I missed special things like the new Terry Hearn book, and the one from Luc de Baets (next month in Belgium: the Genk Fair!). Maybe some other time?
