Nightfishing in France

Nightfishing is not allowed everywhere. Many departments heve opened special nightfishing zones or areas. These areas are very well constructed but know a very high, constant fishing pressure. The fishing clubs understand

You will need a night fishing license of that area 9also: see licenses in France).

Conditions

Sometimes, there are conditions for fishing, here a few examples:
  • the kind of tent/bivvy (Lac du Der, areas around Lac de Orient)
  • usage of open fire/barbeque/camping gaz
  • no allowance to fish outside the nightfishing areas during the night
  • fishing is allowed onlu during a certain perion, (because of the combination hunting and fishing area)
i always try to inform if I may stay o the banks without fishing at night, outside the nightfishing zone. Most of the time is is allowed, but do not try not fish during these nightly moments! Often an umbrella is allowed, a bivvy often isn't. Don't show yoy have things to cook with, or else you are camping. They have other regulations for that.

Natural resources

Do yo want to fish in these zones, then you'll see there are lots of conditions to fish during an available period. If it concerns a bird reservation park, some parts or the entire park is being closed for the public so that the birds can breed without being disturbed (eg. Lac de Foret d'Orient, Madine) This period often starts with the winterperiod (starting October) and ends in May.

France also knows many (private) areas which are open for many recreational purposes, such as fishing. However, often these areas are hunting areas during the period October till April. You may risk your life fishing these areas duringthe closed periods, and obove that the large fines.
